Troll 2 is a horror film movie released in 1990. The sequel to 1986's Troll, the film received poor reviews upon release and later amassed a cult following, with some referring to it as one of the worst movies ever made, similar to The Room and Birdemic.

History

Originally titled Goblins, filmmaker Claudio Fragasso never intended for Troll 2 to be a sequel to Troll.^[1] His script, written with wife Rosella Drudi, was for a comedy called Goblins. However, the studio, MGM, repositioned the film as a horror film, attaching it to the 1986 film Troll, despite the film's sharing nothing in common. Language barriers challenged the production, as the film's crew, including director Claudio Fragasso and screenwriter Rosella Drudi, were not native English speakers. MGM released Troll 2 on October 12th, 1990.^[2]

Reception

The film received poor reviews upon release. The film received a 6% rotten rating on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. ^[3] Many consider it one of the worst films ever made. However, because of its short runtime and memorable moments, fans of the film refer to it as the "best worst movie" ever made.

Best Worst Movie

Over time, Troll 2 grew in popularity as a midnight movie due to the performances by inexperience actors, low-budget special effects and poor writing. In 2009, the film's star Michael Stephenson released a documentary about the film and its cult following: Best Worst Movie (trailer below).

They're Eating Her!

They’re Eating Her! is a quote from a scene in the film, in which the character Arnold reacts in horror upon seeing a group of monsters devouring a woman. Due to the scene’s low production value and poor acting, it became the subject of several remix and parody videos on YouTube.

YTMND user onemoresolo featured the audio from a clip "Oh My GAHHHHHHHHD!" on February 28th, 2006, in which the character Arnold (played by Darren Ewing) witnesses several monsters consuming a woman and yells:

They eating her! And then they going to eat me.. Oh my god!

On September 8th, 2006, YouTuber Veovisjohn uploaded a clip of the scene, which received over 3.5 million views and 10,400 comments within six years.
