On December 3rd, 2020, leeeeeyuhhhhhhh posted a video to TikTok[1] in which she tells her boyfriend he looks like he can't swim, to which he responds defensively with confusion and outrage, assuring her that he can not only swim, but float, too (shown below). The video gained over 3.6 million views and 750,000 likes in 4 days.

Leeeeeyuhhhhhhh's video inspired other TikTokers to ask their boyfriends the same question and film the reaction. On December 4th, tabathalauren uploaded a video to TikTok[2] where she Facetimes her boyfriend and tells him he looks like he can't swim, resulting in laughter from an off-camera friend (shown below, left). The video gained over 934,000 views in 3 days. On December 5th, laurabrooks3 uploaded a video[3] asking her husband the question, resulting in him accusing her of being on drugs, garnering over 1.4 million views in 2 days (shown below, right).
