The Jews Fear The Samurai refers to an image of Japanese conspiracy theorist HAKU Zynkyoku in a samurai robe captioned "the jews fear the samurai." The image became popular on 4chan and in image macros throughout the 2010s and is often used in an antisemitic light, particularly on 4chan's /pol/ board. The image comes from a 2012 video of Zynkyoku standing in front of a swastika espousing his beliefs about the spiritual origins of the "Judaya," or Jews, and warning against them, suggesting they financially rule the world "from behind a curtain" and encouraging all the world's samurai to rise up against them.

Origin

HAKU Zynkyoku

According to Kook Science,^[1] HAKU Zynkyoku, or Kojima Rokan, is the creator of Shinmon-gaku, "the study of aiming to reveal the secrets of man and the cosmos." He also founded its successor theory ZIGMA-ism. Zynkyoku has written numerous books on the subjects, many of which detail a Cosmic Astral-Etheric War waged by ZIGMA Samurai against the "Christ – Abyss – Moloch" (CAM) forces. These include Jewish people, occultists, multiracial people and more. Zynkyoku also claims to have invented the kenjutsu style Susashinryuu Maken, the Demonic Sword Style of Takehaya Susanoo-no-Mikoto.

Zynkyoku had a YouTube^[2] page called "thefourthreich2009" where he shared his speeches on various conspiracy topics, including series with titles like "The Truth About 9.11" and "The Origins of the Jews." It was terminated for "multiple or severe violations of YouTube's policy prohibiting hate speech." He currently has two websites, tenseimago^[3] and dragon-cross.jugem.jp,^[4] although neither has been updated in over a year. The former website offers a detailed backstory on Zynkyoku, where he talks about how Japan's school system teaches a warped, negative version of Japanese history and how he was disillusioned by it as a young kid. He talks about his distaste for the grip democratic politics have on Japan and about how he wants a revolution. He ends the biography with a passage referencing Marx and Lenin:

You can't run a train without first laying rails in the field. Rails are the theory and trains are the actual actions. I have to play two roles, Marx and Lenin. Before becoming Lenin, he must first become Marx. It didn't feel impossible, but it was clear that it wasn't an easy task. If I couldn't move people due to lack of power, I would just do things and die by myself, I decided.

Talks By HAKU Zynkyoku #54

On March 30th, 2012, Zynkyoku filmed a four-part lecture series titled "The Origin Of The 'JEWS' Lies In The Former Universe, Talks By HAKU Zynkyoku #54" where he describes his conspiracy-laden interpretation of the origin of the Jewish people. It was originally available on YouTube before Zynkyoku's channel was removed. A 13-minute segment was reuploaded in 2019 (shown below). The full hour-long lecture was uploaded to BitChute^[5] by OccultConspiracy on May 2nd, 2020. The thumbnail is an image of Zynkyoku standing in front of a swastika flag captioned "the Jews fear the samurai."

On July 18th of that year, an anonymous user of 4chan's /jp/^[6] board shared an image consisting of four screenshots from the series, including one with Zynkyoku saying "the jews fear the samurai" taken from the last half of the video (shown below). The image was reposted to Reddit's /r/mildlyinteresting^[7] board by a now-deleted user on May 4th, 2013.

Spread

The phrase and various images of Zynkyoku, mainly the one captioned "the jews fear the samurai," became notably popular on 4chan over the course of the 2010s starting around 2013, largely on the /pol/ board. A 4plebs^[8] search for the exact phrase shows over 2,200 uses since 2013.

The image has been used in image macros outside of 4chan. On September 19th, 2020, Redditor marux_1 posted a meme to /r/Memes_Of_The_Dank^[9] using the Nobody: format and the image to describe the History Channel at Night, gaining over 12,900 upvotes in a year (shown below).

On June 12th, 2021, Redditor Jackyboi9273 posted an image macro to /r/dankmemes^[10] using the same history channel at night format, gaining over 32,000 upvotes in five months. On June 25th, Instagram^[11] user hairysh1t posted an image macro captioned "Holocaust survivors when they see the conditions of Japanese internment camps" using the image, gaining over 500 likes in five months (shown below).
