The video is a trailer for "Extreme Perverse Family" season three and was posted to X / Twitter in February 2021, gaining viral spread that month as a piece of shock media on sites like X and TikTok, earning it the nickname "the haunted house video."

Origin

The Perverse Family is an adult fetish film website that caters to various fetishes, including scat, incest, feeding, extreme insertions and more. On February 26th, 2021, the official @perversefamily X account shared a trailer for season three of their "extreme perverse family" series in which clips of adult actors engaging in various fetishistic sex acts are shown, including gaping and eating feces, garnering over 101,000 likes and 30,000 reposts in two years (screenshot shown below).

The video began to spread under the name "the haunted house video" in November 2021 after TikTokers began posting videos alluding to it, often sharing the first frame of the video as a teaser.

For example, on November 15th, X^[1] user @TheKingsman42 posted, "I JUST SAW THE HAUNTED HOUSE VIDEO HERE ON TWITTER AND DAMN I SHOULD’VE STAYED AT TIKTOK 😭😵," in reference to seeing it on the platform. On November 17th, TikToker^[2] @finnyboyb posted a video similarly referencing it, garnering over 1.6 million views in a year (shown below).

Spread

The video continued to spread throughout November 2021 as more users posted their reactions to coming across it online. On November 17th, 2021, X^[3] user @foodcuzyeah posted, "NO BECAUSE WHERES THE HAUNTED HOUSE VIDEO I WANNA SEE 😧," garnering over 2,300 likes in two years. On November 18th, TikToker^[4] @tenshiyawa posted a bait-and-switch meme using the Super Idol meme in place of the actual video, garnering over 2 million views in two years (shown below).

The video continued to spread in 2023, particularly on TikTok. On February 21st, 2023, TikToker^[5] @baddussymegaflop posted a TikTok referring to the haunted house video, garnering over 158,000 views in nine months (shown below).

On November 7th, TikToker^[6] @divine.igb posted a video captioned, "my nosy self watching the Twitter video everyone told me not to watch," with one of the top comments on the video being, "the haunted house trailer," garnering over 26,000 likes in three days. The video was reposted by X^[7] user @jeremyjudkins_ on November 9th, writing, "Have y’all seen the haunted house video? Don’t look it up 😐," garnering around 30 likes in a day.
