About

The Sea Beast Eggs Hatching refers to a scene from the 2022 animated film The Sea Beast in which main protagonist Jacob Holland accidentally steps on sea monster eggs, cracking them open, with the hatchlings screaming as they hatch. On YouTube, memes in which various Goofy Ahh sound effects are edited gained popularity in July 2022.

Origin

On July 8th, 2022, the animated film The Sea Beast premiered[1] on Netflix. In one scene of the film, the character Jacob Holland accidentally steps on a sea monster's eggs, cracking them open, with hatchlings screaming as they hatch (scene shown below).

On July 12th, YouTube[2] user JayryllePlayz Gaming posted an edit of the scene in which the screaming was replaced with the Aughhh Goofy Ahh sound effect (shown below, left), with the video gaining over 4,600 views in one month. On July 17th, YouTube[3] user Hashashinite Studios posted an edit based on the same idea which received over 3.9 million views in three weeks (shown below, right).

Spread

In the following weeks, more edits in which the hatchlings' screams were replaced with various sound effects were posted on YouTube. For example, on July 27th, Hashashinite Studios uploaded[4] a Gangsta's Paradise version that gained over 1.3 million views in two weeks (shown below, left). On July 30th, YouTube[5] user Kenny posted a version with jumpscare sound from Five Nights at Freddy's that gained over 60,000 views in one week (shown below, right).
