About

The Prince Vegeta or Then Something Just Snapped TikTok trend is a social media trend where TikTokers use the photo slideshow feature to make a post consisting of dozens of identical images with one lewd image hidden throughout the slides, often at the end of the slideshow. One of the most prevalent versions hides uncensored images from the Wisconsin Volleyball Team Leak in the show. The trend is set to a speech by Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z and went viral in October 2022, also inspiring ironic bait-and-switch versions as it gained in prominence online.

Origin

On July 23rd, 2022, TikToker[1] @simply.najih posted a Dragon Ball AMV set to a remix of a speech by Vegeta, garnering over 8 million views in three months (shown below). In October, people started using the original sound in long-form slideshow posts (unavailable on desktop browsers), many consisting of roughly 35 images, where the same image of someone is posted in most slides with one slide consisting of a lewd or risque image of the same person. One of the most prominent now-deleted versions used images of the Wisconsin volleyball team, hiding uncensored nudes throughout from the October 2022 leak.

The original speech used in the meme comes from episode 114 of Dragon Ball Z and is spoken by Vegeta after he turns super Saiyan (shown below).

Spread

The trend became notably popularized in October 2022, also inspiring bait-and-switch memes where people expect a lewd image but instead are greeted with a meme criticizing them. The memes were purportedly pushed by TikTok's algorithm, resulting in many users sharing video recordings of their For You Pages to TikTok[2][3] showing long streams of the videos (examples shown below, left and right).
