About

They Were Both Bottoms is an exploitable image originally drawn by Yuri manga author Mikawa Miso, depicting two women about to engage in sexual intercourse but finding themselves embarrassed as both of them realize neither of them is ready to take the lead. The panel has been parodied by replacing the characters in the image.

Origin

The original frame that eventually served as template was uploaded on May 21st, 2017, when DynastyScans user Binbou Scanlation submitted a scanlation of the original image (shown below).[1]

The image saw use as an exploitable over the following several years as people altered the characters in the scene. For example, on November 17th, 2018, Tumblr user radycat[2] posted art with She-ra and the Princesses of Power characters in the scene, gaining over 1,200 notes (shown below, left). On May 24th, 2019, Redditor RedTowerLights posted a Danganronpa edit to /r/danganronpa,[3] gaining over 230 points (shown below, right).
