They're Blocked!, also known as I Am The Only X Lover, Liker, Disliker and Hater, is a copypasta that became popularized on Twitter in June 2023. The copypasta is largely employed by fans of niche characters from anime and video games and goes beyond typical fandom adoration, with the poster exaggeratedly declaring they will "block" anyone who even knows about their character of choice.
Origin
On June 21st, 2023, Twitter user @tojokaname_[1] posted the first iteration of the copypasta, centering it on Ensemble Stars! character Kaname Tojo. The post reads:
i am DONE if i see someone liking kaname. THEYRE BLOCKED. hating kaname? BLOCKED, disliking kaname? BLOCKED, loving kaname? BLOCKED, you know about kaname’s existence? YOURE ALSO BLOCKED. IM THE ONLY KANAME LOVER, LIKER, DISLIKER, HATER AND GIRLFRIEND!! EVERYONE WHO LIKES HER DNI
The post gained nine retweets and 54 likes in one day (shown below).
Spread
Though the original tweet did not spread widely, it inspired others to repost the copypasta using various characters. Later on June 21st, 2023, Twitter user @riikanomy[2] posted the copypasta about Project SEKAI character Akito Shinonome, gaining over 80 retweets and 460 likes in just over 12 hours (shown below, left). On June 22nd, Twitter user @crimmyboi[3] adapted the copypasta to VTuber Kronii, gaining over 12 retweets and 100 likes in less than three hours (shown below, right).
The swift spread of the copypasta caused several terms, including "They're Blocked" and "Lover, Liker, Disliker and Hater" to trend on Twitter the morning of June 22nd, 2023.[4]
