This Is My Voice is a series of TikTok parody videos in which people record their voices progressively changing over time. Some have speculated that the trend was initially created in reference to videos in which trans people document the changes in their voice after starting hormone treatments.

Origin

The exact origin of "This Is My Voice" TikTok on TikTok is currently unknown. On December 1st, 2018, YouTuber totallionelml uploaded a video of TikTok user Skye.malfoy performing different voices after watching anime (shown below).

Spread

On December 16th, 2018, YouTuber Akame Hyuna reuploaded a video by TikTok user AlainaHatsune, in which she records her voice changes after watching anime for several weeks (shown below). Within two weeks, the video gained over 218,000 views and 470 comments.

The following day, Twitter user @canicula[1] tweeted that the TikTok videos were transphobic, claiming that the premise mocks "voice change progression videos of trans ppl who’ve started hormones" (shown below).
