About

"U Got That" is a 2017 EDM song by Atlanta-based music duo Halogen. In early 2019, the song grew popular in remixed YouTube Poop Music Videos and MADs.

Origin

On August 15th, 2017, "U Got That" was released on SoundCloud[1] by record label Pinnacle Collective for free download, gaining over 896K plays in the following years.



Spread

On August 17th, 2017, YouTube Channel Accession uploaded the song, where it reached more than 5 million views (shown below).



It was not until the following year that the song started seeing use in animation memes. On September 21st, 2018, YouTuber UnknownSpy posted an animation set to the song that gained over 1.8 million views (shown below, left). On October 11th, 2018, that YouTuber Channel "Pantsu Shot「NyR」" uploaded a music video titled "U Got That | FULL VERSION [MMV]" featuring the song and Kantai Collection characters with gesugao expressions, gaining over 19.6 million views in six months (shown below, right).



Others used the song and Pantsu Shot's animation in more comedic videos. For example, YouTuber healing Rico gained over 2.9 million views in four months mashing up the animation with Ricardo Milos (shown below, left). YouTuber Kyouma posted a parody of of that video on February 23rd, 2019, gaining over 340,000 views in three months (shown below, right).

Ricardo Juice

On April 5th, 2019, TikTok user @leah_schmidyy123 uploaded a recording of herself consuming a bottle labeled "Ricardo Juice" along with a bottle labeled "Holy Water" before transforming into a nun and dancing like Ricardo Milos as "U Got That" plays in the background (shown below). Over the next several weeks, the video accumulated more than 1.1 million likes and 27,400 comments.

Over the next month, over 15,200 similar videos were uploaded to the platform, using the original audio file submitted by @leah_schmidyy123 (shown below).
