About
The Wally West Pose and Wally West Soloing refer to a series of memes about DC Comics character Wally West, from the Flash universe, being an ultra-powerful character with the ability to "solo," as in win a one vs. one fight, against any character in fiction. The memes centered on an image macro of Wally West in the air with his arms stretched open and his chest pushed out. Memes about Wally West soloing first surfaced in 2020 and 2021, following a series of powerscaling edits on TikTok that compared West to characters from various anime, comics and films. Wally West memes returned in May 2025 as they saw a resurgence online.
Origin
Debates over Wally West soloing other characters in fiction started on the /r/whowouldwin[1] subreddit as early as 2015. However, the Wally West Pose originates from the comic Flash Forward #5, which was published on January 15th, 2020.[6] The page in question shows Wally West floating in the air with his arms open and chest out (shown below).[7]

However, the viral use of Wally West's pose and debates over his powercaling against other characters didn't surface en masse until, purportedly, 2020. Many TikTokers claim that the trend took off in 2020, but actual links have not yet been discovered.
For instance, on September 5th, 2024, TikToker[2] @kristbozaia posted a video, talking about how 2020 Wally West debates were "peak ComicTok," receiving over 58,300 likes in nine months (shown below).

Currently, the earliest discovered Wally West "ComicTok" powerscaling edit with the Wally West Pose was shared by TikToker[3] @wally_west_solos01 on June 13th, 2021. It received just 51 likes in four years (shown below). The video's sound has since become unavailable, possibly implying that the 2021 trend has been buried with the deleted sound.

Wally West memes resurfaced again in 2025, evident in a post shared by TikToker[5] @astrifics on May 21st, which showed Wally West hitting his pose with a POV caption about, "Your favorite character shows up but you hear this song (you're cooked)," receiving over 202,000 likes in nine days (shown below).
