What Are We Doing To Our Beautiful Queens? is a copypasta inspired by a Kevin Durant tweet in which the NBA star bemoaned beauty standards that drive some women to radical plastic surgery. Since Durant tweeted the phrase in 2014, it has often been used to joke about people of all genders undergoing plastic surgery.
Origin
On August 29th, 2014, Kevin Durant tweeted about apparently discovering that some women remove their bottom two ribs in order to achieve a skinny waist. After Twitter user Kaylana Reese confirmed that the procedure did exist, Durant tweeted,[1] "I'm gonna go outside and light myself on fire. What are we doing to our beautiful queens." The tweet gained over 3,500 retweets and 5,800 likes in nine years (shown below).

It took some time before the interaction became widespread on social media. On December 13th, 2019, Redditor MrGoodieMob posted the screenshotted Twitter interaction to /r/nbacirclejerk,[2] gaining over 320 points in four years. It was reposted again on October 6th, 2021, by Twitter user @ohlode,[3] gaining over 2,800 retweets and 36,000 likes in two years.
Around this time, the tweet became more commonly used as a copypasta, usually in a joking manner. On November 11th, 2021, Twitter user @winterrecess[4] posted the copypasta to joke about a graphical change in a video game character (shown below, left). On October 28th, user @avocadomelon[5] used it to comment on cosmetic products (shown below, right).
On June 26th, 2023, the copypasta was often paired with a video of a man getting nose surgery after the clip went viral on Twitter (examples shown below).
