when this looks normal and this doesn't is a snowclone used to describe how modified versions of things meant for a certain community look normal when compared to the source material as a result o being a part of that community for a long time. originating on reddit, it's seen use in 2020. the first instance of this meme comes from the r/pewdiepiesubmissions subreddit on july 14, 2020. the post submitted by reddit user u/sentryzero00, shows how members of the meme community might view the photoshopped sully wazowski meme format as normal compared to the original screenshot from the movie. that same day, various posts with the same snowclone sprung up across the r/pewdiepiesubmissions and r/dankmemes subreddits, with a variation appearing showing how the maker of the meme has never seen the original unaltered image before.
