In association with Andrew Yang's 2020 presidential campaign, the meme "math" formed. The candidate reportedly wore a math pin to a debate debate which helped to spark the meme trend.

People frequently wear hats in real life with the meme "Math" on them and create Internet Math memes in support of the candidate.[1]

Origin

The earliest known use is by a Reddit user on February 14, 2019 who suggested "The opposite of Trump would be an Asian guy who likes math."[2]

Spread

The math meme started to trend on Twitter on July 13, 2019 and Internet memes often included people wearing math hats in real life.[3]
