Yo Let Me Put On Some Music U Ain't Never Heard Before is a series of image macros used to mock people with predictable or elitist taste in music. The meme features four images. The first image features an article of clothing associated with the type of person who would recommend the style of music being mocked. The next three images features songs or albums that the subject would consider "cool" or "obscure." The four images have the caption "yo let me put on some music u ain’t never heard before.
Origin
On March 27th, 2018, Twitter [1] user @lexcereal posted a picture of a close-up photograph of a person wearing rapper Tyler the Creator's singature shoe and a Spotify interface paying Clairo's "Flaming Hot Cheetos," BROCKHAMPTON's "BLEACH" and Rex Orange County's "Loving Is Easy." The user captioned the photograph, "yo let me put on some music u ain't never heard before." Within two days, the post (shown below) received more than 13,000 retweets and 55,000 likes.
Spread
The following day, YouTuber [2] Anthony Fantano posted a variation mocking himself. The post (shown below, left) received more than 1,100 retweets and 7,400 likes in 24 hours.
Over the next few days, users began posting more variations of the format (shown below, center and right).
On March 30th, The Daily Dot [3] published an article about the meme.
