You Stole My Cloudsong refers to a viral video in which a player in the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Dark Age of Camelot (DAoC) loudly screams "You stole my fucking cloudsong!" after another player took a magical Cloudsong cloak from him.
Origin
On June 28th, 2005, YTMND user ava11 submitted a page featuring an audio clip of the DAoC player, which gathered upwards of 20,400 views over the next 12 years.[1]
Spread
On July 21st, 2005, YTMND user cloudy01 reposted the audio clip along with a screenshot from the video game "World of Warcraft on a page titled "Wow is serious business". Within 12 years, the page garnered more than 1.13 million views. On October 9th, Urban Dictionary user S.E. A submitted an entry for Cloudsong, defining it as "an object of ultimate desire to those with anger management issues" (shown below).
On October 24th, a post asking about the backstory to the audio clip was submitted to the Straight Dope Forums.[4] In the thread, user Slacker revealed that many suspected the audio had been staged. On February 25th, 2008, YouTuber brando2002 reuploaded the audio (shown below, left). On January 25th, 2009, YouTuber GmodCaboose56 uploaded an animation created in "Garry's Mod": dubbed with the Cloudsong audio (shown below, right).
