It spread over the following weeks, becoming notably popularized in June 2026, inspiring videos that are meant to be motivational and portray oneself as one's biggest opponent and the person whose expectations one should strive to surpass.

On May 12th, 2026, TikToker^[1] @shannon__cahill posted a video set to an audio remixing the instrumental of the Eclipse song "Welcome to my Crib"^[2] with a voice placed overtop that says, "Congratulations, you're moving to the next level. Your next opponent is you."

It is unclear where the voice is from, or if it is simply AI-generated. In the video, the TikToker shows her bodybuilding progress, painting herself as the person she's measuring herself against. The video gained over 416,000 views in a month.

For example, on May 19th, 2026, the fitness TikTok^[3] page @ytmindsetmatters posted a video set to the trend, which features a collage of Greek statues, garnering over 1.2 million views in a month.

On June 4th, Instagram^[4] user azatapa posted a version of the meme showing an AI-generated soldier facing off against himself, set to the audio, garnering over 5.5 million views and 440,000 likes in just under three weeks.

On June 19th, TikToker^[5] @shamzz389 posted a version of the meme about Kobe Bryant facing off a shadow version of himself, garnering over 4.7 million views in four days.

On June 22nd, 2026, TikToker^[6] @idkmxnster posted a version of the meme that shows YBG Wallace facing off against Tom from Tom and Jerry, garnering over 4.5 million views in a day.
