Good news, everyone! The twice-canceled animated series Futurama will be coming back with new episodes in 2023, with the original voice cast already back on board … albeit with one possible exception.

The beloved animated series, which follows the misadventures of Fry, Bender, Leela and everybody else on the rag-tag team of Planet Express, will be coming back with a new 20-episode season on Hulu sometime in 2023. The streaming service seemingly dropped the announcement out of nowhere earlier today, though no official release date has been given yet.

The original cast of the series, including Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr and David Herman will all be reprising their roles, with one exception being the voice of Bender actor John DiMaggio. According to Deadline, the actor was approached by Futurama studio 20th Television Animations, but the talks came to a standstill despite a mutual desire for DiMaggio to return to his role. Even so, it remains unconfirmed that he will or won't be making a return.

David X. Cohen, the co-runner of the series together with Matt Groening, commented, “I’m thrilled to have another chance to think about the future… or really anything other than the present,” with Groening adding, "It’s a true honor to announce the triumphant return of Futurama one more time before we get canceled abruptly again."

The series, which originally aired for four seasons on Fox between 1999 and 2003, was brought back in 2010 by Comedy Central for three more seasons before again being canceled in 2013. Futurama received critical acclaim throughout its run, winning seven Annie Awards and six Emmy Awards. Beloved by fans even to this day, the show also spawned many famous memes, including Not Sure If X, Shut Up and Take My Money, Why Not Zoidberg? and many others.
