Burger King Austria's 'Pride Month' Innovation Is Making Sandwiches With Only Bottom Or Top Buns, Confusing Many

Fast-food chain Burger King, not particularly known for its great holiday messaging, is once again in social media's crosshairs after its Austrian branch came up with a bold new innovation for Pride Month — making burgers with two top buns or two bottom buns.

The "Pride Whopper," as it's dubbed, was hardly a rousing statement of LGBTQ+ support for many and was instead met with eye-rolls online from people who saw it as yet another weak corporate attempt to pander to the LGBTQ+ community.

Realistically, few expected Burger King to knock it out of the park with a Pride Month-related promotion, but the same-bun Whopper set an unexpected new standard in Corporate Pride Month fails for some, leading to jokes and memes across social media mocking the hamburger concept.

If you're in Austria, you have until June 20th if you want to try the gay "same bun" burger. While the act may not do much for the LGBTQ+ community, at least you can claim you took part in one of the weirdest Pride Month fails of recent memory.
