The 29-year-old Kyle Massey, best known for his work on the Disney series' That's So Raven and Cory In The House, was charged in King County, Washington this month for immoral communication with a 13-year-old girl. Massey was 27 at the time and allegedly knew the girl since she was 4 years old. The actor failed to show up to his arraignment hearing on Monday.

The accusations against Massey claim he sent sexually explicit content to the 13-year-old via Snapchat between the months of December 2018 and January 2019. The victim's mother filed a lawsuit against Massey back in 2019 for $1.5 million in damages, but her lawyers allegedly dropped the case because Massey didn't have the money to make a lawsuit worthwhile. She decided to take the case directly to the sheriff as a result.

This morning, Massey's lawyer Lee A. Hutton, III responded to the charges, as reported by TMZ. According to Hutton, Massey did not know about the charges until he read reports of them online on Tuesday. Further, his lawyer claimed that the charges against Massey are motivated by revenge after the 2019 suit fell through, adding that Massey was not properly served. Hutton concludes that they plan to "aggressively defend these accusations" and seek early dismissal.

Massey faces a number of punishments if he's convicted, including having an electronic tracking device put into his phone and computers to monitor his activity, barring him from contacting children and the possibility of jail time.

In similar news, Drake and Josh actor Drake Bell was found guilty of child endangerment charges earlier this month, making that two beloved childhood stars charged for crimes against children this month, a fact that some Twitter users couldn't ignore.
