The hashtag #deathgripsisonline trended on Twitter this morning after the experimental hip-hop group’s long-dormant account posted a cryptic video.

The video, which seems to depict a moth flying around a pair of hands as distorted music plays and lights wildly flash, was immediately seized upon by fans of the group as a sign of new music to come.

Many celebrated the joyous occasion of the return of Death Grips to social media by posting bizarre, in-your-face memes that seem to visually represent the often harsh and outlandish sounds of Death Grips songs.

Some speculated that the new video meant Death Grips planned to release an album on Friday, May 13th, possibly in response to rapper Kendrick Lamar who has confirmed his newest project – titled Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers – will come out on that date.

Death Grips has yet to clarify, or release anything more than the video of the moth — but perhaps that’s all they really need to say.
