Donald Trump Forced To Look At Mean Memes About Him At Jury Selection For Stormy Daniels Case
In what must be a liberal memers' fantasy come true, multiple posters were able to see their mean tweets about Donald Trump read directly to his face yesterday on day two of his Hush Money Trial in New York.
Trump is currently on trial after being indicted for allegedly falsifying business records to cover up a hush money payment to the adult actress Stormy Daniels.
Yesterday, potential jurors were screened for the trial. Trump's lawyer, Todd Blanche, attempted to disqualify jurors as being impartial because of their digital history, as many had posted negative memes and tweets about the controversial former President in the previous decade.
Thus, what reportedly unfolded was an objectively comical situation in which the prospective jurors got to have their insults read to Trump.
The mean memes reportedly shown to Trump in court are an AI-generated video of the former President saying "I'm dumb as [expletive]," a post reading, "Trump invites the Thai boys to the White House, and the boys request to return to their cave," and a video of New York City celebrating when Trump lost the 2020 Election. The prospective juror who had posted that video earned "inaudible muttering" from Trump, which Judge Juan Merchan reprimanded him for, saying it amounted to intimidation tactics.
At one point, a meme shared by the husband of a potential juror showing Trump and Obama with the caption "I don’t think this is what they meant by Orange is the new Black" was handed to Trump, who studied it and reportedly "did not look amused," per the New York Times.
The reports of Trump having to sit through the presentation of mean meme after mean meme earned howls of laughter from many on social media as the story spread online.
The day ended with seven of the necessary 12 jurors selected, so it's entirely possible that a similar situation will unfold over the following days as the court works to find five potential jurors in Manhattan who have not made a negative meme about Donald Trump — which may, apparently, be a difficult task.
