Elder Scrolls And Fallout Gaming Legend Mitten Squad Has Died After Facing A Lasting Battle Against Alcoholism
Fans of YouTuber Mitten Squad, who also went by Paul online, have been paying tribute to the creator ever since news of his death at the age of 27 broke online on December 18th, 2023.
Joseph Wilson a.k.a. Mitten Squad was best known for creating a series of incredibly popular Fallout and Elder Scrolls challenge run videos on YouTube, with his inventive video ideas helping him rake in over 1.5 million subscribers on YouTube.
Wilson made no secret of the issues plaguing his personal life and often posted about his troubles with alcoholism on his X (formerly Twitter) account. He discussed his problems with relapsing on YouTube and X, and reassured his fans that his hiatus was only temporary as recently as November 2023.
On December 18th, close friends of Wilson began to share the news of his passing, citing an obituary posted by a funeral home in his hometown of Canton, Michigan. Many fans expressed sadness and disbelief at hearing the news, given the YouTuber's recent assurances about his health.
Mitten Squad's nonchalant commentary and innovative gaming challenges entertained his fans for years, with the YouTuber tackling games like Far Cry, BioShock, and GTA V in addition to his Bethesda content. His "Can you beat Fallout with only X?" videos are often touted as a prime example of the kind of obscure gaming content YouTube is best known for.
