Several Star Wars fans were elated to find out that the controversial Disney+ show, The Acolyte, was not renewed for a second season, as reported on yesterday.

The series, which had mixed reviews and the lowest season finale for a Star Wars show on Disney+ ever, was accused of blatantly breaking established canon within the Star Wars universe, including showing Sith to be actively hostile towards a Jedi who later remarked that Sith did not exist during that time, as well as the infamous "Force Baby episode."

Numerous fans were quick to point to these sticking points as the reason for the show's cancelation, with many different social media celebrations being made since the news broke, as well as people posting interview snippets from the cast as a way of blaming them for the show's failure.

Not all fans of Star Wars were happy with this news, however, as some enjoyers of the series were quick to take to social media and show their dismay that it was not renewed.

Fans of the show, angry at its cancelation, referred to the controversy surrounding the show as being racially motivated, with several posts saying that the show was doomed from the start and canceled for daring to be different and having a non-male person of color in the starring role, despite the series Ahsoka and movie Rogue One also starring non-male persons of color and being well-received by fans.

One possible reason for the cancelation, and the pushback by fans of the series, that started to circulate was the ratings being bad.

Social media posts that claimed that the series was highly viewed and regarded were then contrasted against the reports that the show was one of the lowest viewed pieces of Star Wars to be recently released, according to online Neilsen ratings, with that being pointed to as the sole reason for its cancelation above anything else.
