Gamestonk ryan cohen I love the spice girls.

As the meme stock craze of 2021 proved, Wall Street is extremely susceptible to a little bit of trolling from people who unironically use words like hodl as sincere investing advice.

Currently, what can only be described as "something" is happening with regards to the meme stock that started it all, GameStop, after its chairman Ryan Cohen tweeted simply, "I love the Spice Girls."

Cohen is well-known in the Reddit Wall Street subcommunities for his propensity to make goofy posts related to the economy, to the point where the subreddit /r/superstonk literally has threads to discuss every one of his tweets because some believe they are coded messages about GameStop stock. Thus, Cohen's tweet about liking a '90s girl group sensation was taken as a harbinger for, well, something.

Currently, the /r/superstonk thread for Cohen's Spice Girls tweet has over 15,000 points, as people attempt to parse its hidden meaning, should one exist. There are also multiple threads in which people lay out their theories on what the tweet means. People are combing through Spice Girls lyrics and songs looking for clues that could unlock the mystery between Cohen's five-word tweet.

One theory is that two Spice Girls are currently on Netflix's The Circle, whose logo is a purple circle. A purple circle is a symbol in the sub-community for DRS (Direct Register Shares), a complicated method of stock transferring that the meme stockers are particularly bullish on.

Another theory posits that the Spice Girls tweet could be a roundabout way for Cohen to indicate he's buying the one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang Clan album that was once infamously owned by Martin Shkreli. Though this theory seems tenuous, the general feeling on the subreddit is that no theory, no matter how outlandish, can be ruled out.

Whatever the case may be, one thing is for sure — Ryan Cohen definitely doesn't "just" love the Spice Girls. Unless he does, in which case Reddit will have been sent on a wild goose chase for nothing.
