On Monday, the trailer_ for the fourth entry into the children's animated Hotel Transylvania series, titled Transformania, dropped online. Rather than inspire excitement, however, the trailer has sparked a lot of anger out of some fans of the series, particularly Invisible Man stans.

For the first time in the series' history, the "Invisible Man" character, aka Griffin, who remains invisible throughout the first three films, is revealed sans-invisibility, and the man he's turned out to be does not match the image in many fans' heads. The film also reveals human forms of Dracula and the other monsters they've come to know and love, but none sparked anger quite like the sight of Griffin's curly red hair, pear-shaped body, big, sagging nose and balding head.

To those outside the fandom, the hardest thing to grasp is how so many people can be attracted to a character that's entirely invisible. It's not as if this is some elaborate hoax — people have seemingly found themselves attracted to the character for a number of years, as evidenced by tweets from as early as 2019 expressing attraction towards him. It seems like a good number of people have been keeping their attraction to the character fittingly invisible to the public, but were unable to keep it in any longer following the reveal.

Griffin's invisibility (coupled with his character's loyal, slightly awkward traits) is arguably what made fans attracted to him. His lack of an appearance outside some stylish glasses and a single mention of his red, curly hair in the second film allows fans to imagine him in any way they want, which is reflected in the outpouring of fan art showing off what fans wish Griffin looked like instead.

Some fans have demanded changes to the character's animation, citing the changes made to Sonic's character design in the 2020 film Sonic The Hedgehog after massive fan backlash as a sign that not all hope is lost. With the film's release date of July 23rd looming around the corner though, it's looking like the character's stans may just have to live with the fact that the invisible man of their dreams is no visible heartthrob.
