The 2010s-era Facebook meme page admin Carl Sherburne passed away recently, with those who remember his work on the page [Controversial Humor] Cell reminiscing about the peak of his fame nearly a decade ago.

In December 2023, various Sherburne hate pages and fans came together on Facebook to remember the internet legend, with many cursing his name even in death.

Sherburne was a Maryland native who gained notoriety for posting "edgy" jokes online, which were often perceived as racist, misogynistic and homophobic by many.

Nevertheless, his page gathered hundreds of thousands of followers and likes between 2010 and 2014, a niche source of fame that Sherburne promptly used to message and harass underage women online.

Sometime in early 2014, Sherburne was arrested for marijuana possession and other paraphernalia, effectively leading to the end of his brief niche internet popularity, although he did continue speaking to an audience through the Facebook group "Cellulites."
