It Sure Seems Like Barack Obama Made A 'Small Dong' Joke At The Democratic National Convention

Obama making a "dong joke" at the 2024 DNC.

The vibe at night two of the Democratic National Convention was certainly "loose," as the 2024 DNC featured a surprise musical performance from Lil Jon that, naturally, changed the lyrics of "Get Low" from "to the window, to the walls" to "to the Walz."

Perhaps feeding off this party-like atmosphere, former President and keynote speaker Barack Obama appeared to make a "dong size" joke about the Republican nominee, Donald Trump.

To be clear, the 44th President of the United States didn't expressly allude to Trump's penis, but for many, it sure seems like that was the intended target of a joke he delivered in the middle of his speech.

While running down the tics of the Republican nominee, Obama referenced Trump's penchants for "childish nicknames," "crazy conspiracy theories" and what Obama described as a "weird obsession with crowd sizes," referring to Trump's repeated false insistence that he's drawn crowds bigger than Obama, Kamala Harris, and Martin Luther King Jr.

While delivering the "crowd sizes" line, Obama made a measuring motion with his hands, looked down at them, and then looked up with comedic embarrassment, like he had just done something unintentionally scandalous.

There's enough plausible deniability in case Obama is ever expressly asked if he was making a dong joke — one could argue he was simply mocking a gesture Trump commonly makes in his public appearances, dubbed the "accordion motion" by some of his critics.

Whatever Barack Obama's intent, a wide swath of the internet read it as a "dick joke," and numerous Democrats online watching Obama's speech seemed to love it as it was discussed and reposted on social media.

Did he just...? Fox host imagined reaction Never going high again

As Akilah Hughes pointed out, the joke, whatever the intended meaning behind it, is certainly a far cry from the "when they go low, we go high" messaging championed by Michelle Obama at the 2016 DNC the first time Democrats ran against Trump.

The current Harris campaign has featured a bevy of subtle but lowbrow attacks against Trump and Republicans, including the "Republicans are Weird" messaging and VP nominee Tim Walz making a subtle reference to an internet meme involving JD Vance and a couch.
