Kanye West Gets One-day Instagram Ban For Harassment And Racial Slur Directed At Trevor Noah
Instagram has suspended Kanye West's account for one day after weeks of the rapper crusading against Pete Davidson, the new boyfriend of his ex-wife Kim Kardashian. He will be unable to post, comment or DM for 24 hours, and Instagram could implement harsher suspensions if West, now known as "Ye," continues to violate its policy against bullying and hate speech.
The suspension came shortly after West directed a racial slur at Trevor Noah on his Instagram page. Noah had recently done a Daily Show segment criticizing West's lengthy campaign against Davidson and his associates, including fellow Saturday Night Live castmates Michael Che and D.L. Hughley. One post directed towards Hughley found West saying he "can afford to hurt" him.
The suspension comes after a lengthy string of incidents that violated Instagram's policy against bullying and harassment. West has posted on Instagram stills from his video "Eazy," which shows him burying Davidson alive, and "joked" he was worried that Davidson would get his family hooked on drugs. He's also posted memes depicting him battling Davidson and has posted numerous videos alleging he doesn't see his kids when he'd like.
Kardashian and Davidson have, until recently, mostly attempted to stay out of the fray. But earlier this week, screenshots of Davidson's text conversation with Kanye in which he asked the rapper to seek help leaked, and Kardashian has replied to one of West's videos about not seeing his kids with the comment, "Please stop with this narrative, you were just here this morning picking up the kids for school."
Reactions on social media to the suspension ranged from gratefulness some small step was taken by West's platform of choice to hope that West may return to Twitter, where he garnered a reputation as one of the site's funniest posters among some users.

Kanye has been banned from Instagram for violating their bullying/hate speech/harassment. Not sure how long, but he deserves it.

Considering West's history, it seems unlikely the one-day break from Instagram will do much to curb his public campaign against Kardashian and Davidson, and the ball will almost certainly be back in Instagram's court soon. The platform has pulled the nuclear option on a high-profile account before, and it may potentially be forced to consider such an option again.
