Conservatives have been sounding the familiar anti-pornography horn in recent weeks, as Utah Senator Mike Lee has introduced a bill that would ban online pornography in the United States. While experts believe the bill is basically dead in the water (having failed to notch even a single co-sponsor) it has revved up online discussion on the function pornography has in society, as some people, often conservative, argue that it should be banned.

However, one person rocked the debate by suggesting conservatives actually should champion pornography, as it aligns with their crusade against so-called woke entertainment.

"For right-wingers who want to ban porn, I think it's worth pointing out that porn is pretty much the only form of visual media that has dodged political correctness/wokeness," political consultant Jonah Davids wrote. "It is sexist, racist, and for the most part more heteronormative than almost all tv/movies today."

The reasons given for banning porn are pretty weak empirically (i.e., association w/ ED, lower sexual interest, etc.) The problems men are facing in society have much more to do w/ women becoming more economically independent and the rise of social media. Not porn. 4/

Davids' galaxy brain hot take that pornography actually serves conservatives' "anti-woke" agenda because it is racist and sexist baffled social media users, many of whom found it hilarious to imagine someone ashamed to be watching porn but justifying it because of the racism.

Of course, many noted that the type of pornography Davids describes is but a small slice of a larger pornography pie, meaning his tweet may imply more about his own erotic taste than the genre at large.

Unfortunately for Mr. Davids, it appeared few agreed with his tweet, as many conservatives bashed the take for accidentally adding even more reasons to ban pornography and many on the left bashed it for implying racism and sexism are somehow good things.

There may be more dialogue to come in the broader anti-pornography discussion in the coming months, but it seems safe to say the argument that conservatives should like porn for all the bigotry will not arise again.
