At long last, feet exist in Meta's virtual reality platform, Horizon Worlds.
At this year's Meta Connect, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Horizon Worlds developers have solved one of the platform's most-memed issues by giving avatars legs. Prior to today's announcement, people in Horizon Worlds were legless torsos shuffling around the metaverse like ancient Miis. The announcement was made by Zuckerberg's Horizon Worlds avatar, hopping around Horizon Worlds with his newfound legs and significantly upgraded graphical fidelity.
Virtual Zuck also showcased how Horizon Worlds will let you engage with exciting features like "picking your avatar's outfit and hairstyle." It's no Street Fighter 6 character creation system but it at least seems up to par with ports of Wheel of Fortune to the Switch.
It remains to be seen if feet alone will generate hype for Horizon Worlds, especially after reports came out just last week revealing that even Meta employees weren't using it. The initial wave of online reactions seemed to indicate that legs were not enough to spark interest in Horizon Worlds.
Almost up to PlayStation Home level now, which is to say a massive disappointing rip-off with queues and trolling. https://t.co/PNQ2pduUjz

But still don't cast shadows, like the vacuous ghouls of an empty virtual future that they are https://t.co/WgdMpwmng8

Meta has achieved the graphic rendering power of the mid-90s PS1. Truly a big announcement. https://t.co/lu5PtErvZr

At this point, Meta may need to push their character creation engine further if they really want to get more people on board. Just imagine someone like this guy explaining in the Metaverse that profits are down and layoffs are sadly imminent for some longtime employees:
