Neither Kim Jong-un Nor His Family Are Jewish, Contrary To Baffling Thread Going Viral On Twitter

Did you know Kim Jong-un, the Supreme Leader of North Korea, is Jewish? No? That's because he isn't, but that didn't stop a thread making the baffling claim from going viral this afternoon on Twitter / X.

To be clear, the thread is going viral because much of the website is bewildered by the claims of one @austerrewyatt1, a Twitter user whose bio claims "Leftism is a mental disorder" and that the World Economic Forum is "a terrorist organization," which may offer some clues as to the reason the user wants to assert Kim Jong-un is Jewish.

What follows is a virulently antisemitic conspiracy theory that essentially claims Jews were installed as world leaders by the Soviet Union, including a false assertion that Fidel Castro was Jewish.

The Pepe Silvia-esque thread cites no sources, makes sweeping, antisemitic claims about Jews and asserts that Kim Jong-un "has Jewish features," which the poster only defines as "bloated cheeks" and "being a total (A-hole)."

Much of the site recognized that this thread had no basis in reality and was a cynical, antisemitic attempt to connect a widely disliked foreign leader to Judaism.

The Community Note beneath the thread clarifies that Kim Jong-un is not Jewish, and for its source, it cites Wikipedia, perhaps as a joke about how blatantly untrue the claims made in the thread are.
