Hot off the success of their adaptation of The Witcher, Netflix is diving back into the realm of video game adaptation, announcing today that an adaptation of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed is in development.

The announcement marks one of Netflix's biggest scores in their deal with Ubisoft, as the streaming service and game company have paired up to adapt several of the studio's most popular titles. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is also in development at Netflix, as are adaptations of Cyberpunk 2077 and Dragon's Dogma.

"From its breathtaking historical worlds and massive global appeal as one of the best selling video game franchises of all time, we are committed to carefully crafting epic and thrilling entertainment based on this distinct IP and provide a deeper dive for fans and our members around the world to enjoy," said Netflix executive Peter Friedlander in a press release.

No other news about the adaptation has dropped yet, but Netflix will have a wealth of historical eras to set the series in, as the Assassin's Creed series has games set in Renaissance Italy, the American Revolution, and Ancient Greece, to name a few.

Hopefully, the series will be better than the 2016 Michael Fassbender-led cinematic adaptation of the game, which was almost universally panned by critics.
