Fans of high-octane, angel-slaying action and modesty alike were thrilled yesterday when Nintendo dropped a surprise trailer for Bayonetta 3, announcing the game will come out on October 28th for the Switch.

Though not mentioned by Nintendo in the trailer, the game will also come with a "Naive Angel" mode, which essentially amounts to a "SFW" mode that makes sure the title character's clothes stay on in certain cutscenes.

Developers Platinum Games revealed the information about the Naive Angel mode after Nintendo released the trailer, joking, "By turning it on, you can play right in the living room without having to worry about what's on screen… we think."

In the Bayonetta games, Bayonetta's outfit is made of her hair, so when she has to conjure something incredible, that hair leaves her body to turn into, say, a giant fist while Bayonetta gets pretty nude. Naive Angel mode appears to remove that trait from the character, making it so Bayonetta's conjurations leave her fully clothed (where all that extra hair comes from in Naive Angel mode comes from, we'll never know).

Though there were some grumbles about the option, most fans of the series found the mode hilarious and gave kudos to Platinum Games for making Naive Angel mode an option rather than outright make Bayonetta less nude than in previous games.

The more exciting news was undoubtedly the release date for Bayonetta 3, which has long been in the works with nary a peep from Nintendo or Platinum since the game's announcement in 2017 and only one gameplay trailer released nearly a full year ago.
