Oscar Isaac has been tapped to play Solid Snake, the iconic protagonist of Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear video game franchise. Deadline broke the story earlier this morning.

It's massive news for the project, which will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts. Snake had been played by David Hayter in Metal Gear Solids 1-4, while Kiefer Sutherland took on the role for Metal Gear Solid 5.

Isaac was rumored to be in line for the iconic role since he expressed interest in a MArch 2019 interview. In December of 2019, Kojima tweeted pictures of himself with Isaac, further adding fuel to the fire.

The adaptation sent shockwaves through Twitter, as people were stoked to see the actor land the part.

There's no word yet on if the cinematic adaptation of Metal Gear Solid will follow the events of the first game or if it will be an original story. Either way, it will be interesting to see Isaac's approach to Snake's iconic voice.
