Images from the viral video show the plane crashing at a gender reveal party, ultimately resulting in the pilot's death.

To quote a Know Your Meme piece from 2021, "Yet another gender reveal party has ended in tragedy."

This time, a viral video shows a couple watching a plane spreading pink dust into the air, letting them know their unborn child will be a girl, before its left wing suddenly breaks off, causing it to crash and kill the pilot. The footage was shared to Twitter by @aviationbrk last week as it's since spread online.

The pilot was Luis Ángel, 32, who was taken to the hospital with serious injuries before dying shortly after. The couple, apparently unaware that the plane had crashed after making the reveal, are filmed hugging before the video cuts off.

The umpteenth fatality caused or associated with a gender reveal party caused numerous social media users to once again beg humanity to stop holding the events.

The tragedy adds to the remarkably high body count associated with gender reveal parties over the last several years. In 2019, a grandmother died after being hit by shrapnel flying off a gender reveal explosive. In 2020, a couple set off an explosive at a gender reveal party and sparked a wildfire, costing them a fine of $8 million. In early 2021, a man died while working on a homemade explosive for the upcoming gender reveal party of his child.

Last week's disaster isn't even the first plane crash death associated with a gender reveal party. In 2021, two men died after the plane they were flying carrying a gender reveal banner crashed into the sea.

We're all agreed that extravagant gender reveal parties are dumb. But…

This guy was a professional pilot. Deploying colored smoke was probably a day-to-day thing for him. This flight would have put less stress on the plane than a typical skywriting job.

What I'm saying is, his death wasn't caused by a gender reveal party; it was caused by construction and/or maintenance problems in his plane. If he hadn't done the party, he probably would have died on his next job, whatever it was.
