Legend of Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto announced that a live-action Zelda film is in the works with Sony, with Wes Ball directing and Avi Arad producing the film. But Arad's involvement in the movie has sparked backlash among some fans who aren't sure if they forgive him for his past projects.

Arad is credited as a creative mind behind many Spider-Man projects, including the recent Spider-Verse movies.

However, many Spider-Man fans remain critical of Arad, blaming him for the cancelation of the animated series and for including Venom in the critically panned (yet commercially successful) Spider-Man 3.

Moreover, Arad's involvement in films like the live-action adaptation of Ghost In The Shell starring Scarlett Johanssen, the critically panned Uncharted film, as well as 2022's Morbius have many fans apprehensive about his capacity to bring a beloved video game to life.

Various internet users posted memes and jokes about Arad's involvement in the upcoming Zelda project, with one fan joking about "praying" upon hearing the news and another saying that Arad probably thinks Link is Zelda.

But Arad wasn't the only one catching flak, as numerous fans were also apprehensive about Wes Ball and Sony's involvement in the project.

Yet, no one seems to have elicited as strong a negative reaction about being associated with the project as Arad. Maybe this film is a chance to redeem his image.
