Redditor Puts Together Rickroll Mosaic Of Every Meme On KnowYourMeme

Late in 2019, Redditor agentc313 made a stunning piece of art: a photomosaic of Rick Astley comprised of every single meme in the Know Your Meme database.

The image is an incredible tribute to meme history. According to agentc313, "This Mosaic contains 12,880 individual memes and has been a passion project of mine for the past month… I remember my first ever RickRoll and was very confused at first of what it was – and I had no idea where it would take me, or the entire internet for that matter. So one day I was looking a meme up online and found knowyourmeme.com – a database of every meme template known to man."
Agentc describes the technical complications of creating such a monumental work—comprised of over 12,880 images—in a comment on Reddit's /r/memeeconomy. Essentially, they needed to use a macro recorder to grab all the memes on the site, which got their IP banned (our apologies), then needed to get a proper mosaic builder to fit all the memes on top of Rick Astley. A free trial of Mosaic Pro did the trick.
While stunning to look at, the real joy of the mosaic comes from clicking on its various parts to see what memes make up parts of the iconic image. For example, this is what happens when you click on Astley's hair:

Yesterday, the mosaic was reposted to Reddit's /r/BeAmazed, where it gained over 25,000 points in less than 24 hours, which brought it to our attention. Sorry we missed it in 2019, agentc, but we offer sincere thanks and a hat tip for this incredible piece of work.
