Scott Adams Has 'Harsh Truth' For Parents With Troubled Teens: Kill Your Son, Or Watch People Die
When last we checked on Dilbert comic artist Scott Adams, he was wondering aloud if mass shootings could be prevented if teens were allowed to murder their bullies following the Uvalde school shooting.
Following last weekend's Highland Park shooting, Adams has improbably one-upped that hot take with a new "harsh truth" for parents with troubled teens: "Watch people die or kill your son."
When a young male (let's say 14 to 19) is a danger to himself and others, society gives the supporting family two options:
1. Watch people die.
2. Kill your own son.
Those are your only options. I chose #1 and watched my stepson die. I was relieved he took no one else with him.— Scott Adams (@ScottAdamsSays) July 6, 2022
In his thread, Adams conflates teens committing mass shootings with teens using fentanyl, arguing they are two sides of the same coin. Adams' stepson Justin died of a fentanyl overdose in 2018 at the age of 18.
Adams goes on to preemptively thwart any counterarguments to his position that might suggest offering mental health and recovery services to troubled teens, saying faith in such institutions is "delusional," and further insinuates the only choices in this scenario are "kill your son" or "watch people die." At the end of his thread, he proposes putting troubled teens in a secluded area where they can only hurt each other.
If one more person hallucinates to me about some "program" where teens are kidnapped and "fixed" and returned to their happy parents, I might explode. No such thing exists. You have two options. Only two. No help is coming. Only death and suffering.

It isn't legal to take a young man's bodily autonomy just because he "seems dangerous" but that has to be considered at this point. Otherwise parents have two options. And you get more of what we are getting.

Adams' grim view on troubled teens and his proposed solution for the problem flabbergasted many Twitter users who were not keen on Adams' proposals of filicide or a so-called "teen murder island."
finally someone is brave enough to talk openly about the Put All Teen Boys Together On An Island So They Kill Each Other plan https://t.co/UOvEIFCTze

I don't think society actually gives you the option to kill your son. https://t.co/XuHRXiH3ah

Scott Adams logging on to say he’s glad his son OD’d on fentanyl so he didn’t become a mass shooter is definitely something.

Suffice to say, the government will likely not legalize killing one's children if they are suspected to be "troubled," so Adams may have to continue brainstorming if he wants to solve the epidemic of mass shootings in America.
