Texas Weatherman Andrew Tate Mistaken For Andrew Tate The Influencer, Chaos Ensues
Andrew Tate, a weatherman for East Texas local news network KLTV 7, has had an interesting month on Twitter. Tate (the weatherman) has been frequently mistaken for the controversial influencer and podcaster Andrew Tate (the former MMA fighter) facing criticism from both supporters and opponents of the man he shares a name with.
ANDREW TATE KLTV ("unfortunate weather reporter") IS NOT ANDREW TATE THE BOXER FROM TIKTOK. https://t.co/gRB9Zu0Aq0 pic.twitter.com/ugmk0d5CTf

Tate has tried to clear up the situation by posting several times that he is not that Andrew Tate. Friends of Tate (weatherman) have also posted defending him amid the growing backlash.
I work at this news station and this is horrible because (this) Andrew is the nicest guy you'll ever meet.

YES! @AndrewTateKLTV the weatherman is my former coworker. He is a great!
not to be confused with TikTok andrw tate* https://t.co/HpDuqjeH6w— Eline de Bruijn Wiggins (@debruijneline) August 22, 2022
But supporters of the more famous Tate continue to target the Texas weatherman on Twitter, purportedly calling on him to even change his name.

Those angry at Andrew Tate, who was just banned from almost all social media networks, lashed out at the other Tate (who is still active on Twitter).
I thought they banned you

I'm so sorry @AndrewTateKLTV
First you get bashed for whenever the weather report isn't exactly right and now people think you're the evil Andrew Tate 😭— Ty Jäger (@TheTyJager) August 23, 2022
TRUE!
(sometimes!)
(Yes, this is a different Andrew Tate than the other one, this one is a weather reporter.) https://t.co/dTgWkygFeZ— Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg (@TheRaDR) August 22, 2022
For support and consolation, Andrew Tate reached out to Matt Gertz, a reporter and researcher who is frequently mistaken for Congressman Matt Gaetz on Twitter. Gertz told Tate to just accept the jokes and roll with them, a strategy that Gertz himself has adopted. Gertz has a recurring bit on the platform where he posts “wrong guy” whenever he gets a notification that is really addressed to the scandalous Gaetz.
There’s a reason this is my pinned tweet! Welcome, looks like you’re doing well so far. https://t.co/K3EDQ6daMx

Despite it all, Andrew Tate continues to do his job, reporting diligently on the climate change-related massive flooding and rainstorms that have swept across Texas this week.
Heavy rain (rates up to 2-3in/hr, locally over 3in/hr) are likely to impact portions of SE TX into W/NW LA through 5AM. Heavy rain from NE TX to the east will also be possible in areas already saturated from recent rain. Flash flooding will remain likely for these areas. @NWSWPC pic.twitter.com/4YdT5qA1KZ
