Turkish TikToker Yasin Cengiz is a resident of Istanbul and many online are worried about his wellbeing following the 2023 Turkey earthquake that devasted the southern part of the country.

Since the disaster earlier this week, a rumor has spread online about the "Dom Dom Yes Yes" star and his possible death. At this point, however, it is just speculation and a hoax.

This week, a few TikToks were posted by users who claimed that Yasin Cengiz had died in the earthquakes. One TikToker wrote, "RIP THE LEGEND," and showed what appeared to be an Instagram post from a page called @clipgram. However, the news headline appears to have been faked due to the non-existence of the Instagram page.

Another video that was posted showed footage of the earthquake's devasting aftermath, stating, "R.I.P. yasin cengiz / fly high." Despite the sincerity of the video, its creator seemed only to be playing into the hoax perpetuated by the aforementioned TikToker.

Despite the online rumor mill, it seems that Yasin Cengiz is not dead — as evidenced when he made a post to his Instagram story yesterday showing some of the wreckage around him while men in neon and camouflage assisted with shovels on the rubble.

For now, Cengiz seems okay. The internet at large is sympathetic to his, and his country's, massive plight, hoping for his safety, the safety of his loved ones and the safety of his countrymen.
