Yesterday, Trump reposted a widely shared meme of DeSantis referencing the theory that he wears inserts or heels to increase his height.

The Ron Desantis 'High Heels' conspiracy theory has gone from a niche internet gag to a mainstream point of political mudslinging after former President Donald Trump reposted a popular iteration of the meme to his Truth Social account yesterday afternoon.

Donald Trump's Desantis Meme

Since Ron DeSantis began positioning himself as a candidate for the Republican nomination for President in the upcoming 2024 Election, internet users have noted that the Florida Governor seemed to be appearing in public wearing boots with elevated heels, presumably to make himself appear taller. DeSantis, believed to be around 5'8", would be the shortest President in over a century if elected.

Gags about DeSantis' supposed attempts to increase his stature (while unfounded) persisted throughout 2023, but an example went particularly viral earlier this month when Redditor beastmodeChadF posted a picture of DeSantis talking with Bill Maher, outlining a possible position of DeSantis' feet in his seemingly massive boots.

The post gained over 50,000 points in Reddit's /r/therewasanattempt community and earned jokes about DeSantis' supposed "high heels" on TikTok over the following days.

It appears Trump notably posted screenshots from TikToker @spamellina, judging by the font overlaying Trump's repost.

Gags about heels add to a long list of insults, jokes and various pejorative nicknames Trump has levied at his political rival, as he's floated the nicknames "Ron DeSanctimonious" and "Meatball Ron" to put DeSantis down.

In April, a Trump-supporting PAC arguably damaged some of the hope DeSantis had of winning the nomination when it released an ad reminding voters of a rumor that one time DeSantis ate pudding out of a cup with his fingers.
