To some, one of the most maddening genres of TikTok videos are the scourge of "A Day In My Life" vlogs, which follow a person through their usually impossibly lavish lifestyle as they discuss their expensive meals and gym routines and four-hour workdays (if you're unfamiliar, this parody by user @snotwurst420 will give you an idea of the vibe).
While these "Day in the Life" videos are usually a dime a dozen, one recent clip escaped its intended audience and found itself at the center of a mini-Twitter pile-on. The clip by TikToker @kendelkay describes a day in her life as a "stay-at-home girlfriend."
At the time of writing, it has only 232,000 views on TikTok but it was discovered and reposted by Twitter user @chaoticitgirl, and that upload has over 3.8 million views since being shared on Saturday.

The confluence of the very notion of a "stay-at-home girlfriend" and Kendel's Luanne Platter-esque narration drew the fascination of a wider audience, many of whom struggled to comprehend how Kendel Kay's day seems surreally scattered between juices, lattes, laundry (she wears five different outfits during her day) and butterfly sightings.

Despite the perceivably idyllic life presented by kendelkay in her TikTok, users uncovered signs that things may not be as peachy as they appeared.
Users were able to zoom in on a moment where she writes in her journal and discovered that Kendel has been writing about her struggles with myriad issues, including dissatisfaction with her looks, feeling stagnation in her career and that she has a lack of "fun/social life/excitement."

Others did some digging into Luke and discovered he's purportedly Winnipeg landlord Luke Lintz, who was once the center of controversy after the Winnipeg Free Press reported that Luke and brother Jordan were filmed mocking their tenants that were priced out of their buildings by pandemic-related rent hikes.

The discoveries of these concerning aspects turned what was intended to be a fluffy-by-design TikTok into a sadder portrait of a very bored, unfulfilled woman for some viewers. For her part, Kendel has continued posting about all the things she does in a single day for Luke.
@kendelkay cooking and cleaning are my favorite acts of service 👩🏼🍳🫶🏼
