Longtime Twitch streamer Sodapoppin was banned from the platform yesterday following a spotlight being placed on a clip of him creating a customizable character that appears to have stereotypical blackface features placed on it by Soda.

Last Saturday, the subreddit /r/Livestreamfails featured a clip uploaded to it in which it appears that Sodapoppin was painting a potato character black, verbally confirming that he realizes it is blackface before trying to salvage the situation by creating a Joker face in the wrong order, going bright red lips first. The clip was removed from the subreddit, but it generated significant engagement and discussions, as well as much more discourse that made its way to Twitter after the ban went out four days later.

At the time that the clip itself happened, Soda released a statement on his Reddit account, which was promptly shared around with the context of the video, causing more people to argue over the semantics of his apology and if he knew whether he was right or wrong and what the punishment should have been.

However, based on previous times he's apologized, there were some who simply waited with bated breath to see what his response would be.

Whether it's believed that Soda knew what he was doing or if it was a simple mistake that he made in the heat of the stream, there is one thing for certain: Sodapoppin has video proof that he sometimes just puts his brain on autopilot mode while in front of the camera.
