It's been nearly three weeks since cinematic auteur and X/Twitter user @Rufus87078959 introduced the world to Princess Jane, an AI-generated 3D character who "astounded" the world with her "tricks," which consisted of turning into a JPEG and briefly dissolving. Hyperbolic praise of the animation became a small meme online, but seemingly all but the most stalwart of artificial intelligence cheerleaders seemed to agree it was not very good.

Finally, after weeks of anticipation, the world has a Princess Jane sequel that goes bigger and bolder than the original.

Here, we see Jane, replete with her unflinching stare, floating over a JPEG of a road and narrating some fantasy gobbledygook, though it is difficult to make out over the sounds of thunder drowning out her speech. Interspersed are what appear to be AI-generated JPEGs of humanoid elves.

While Jane's latest adventure certainly has a broader scope than her first, viewers were once again largely unimpressed with Rufus' cinematic vision.

The "critiques" this time largely focused on the perceived inconsistent art style and poor sound mixing that renders Jane's dialogue inaudible. Even the original's "fans" were disappointed, as Princess Jane did not do any "tricks" in the video.

OceanManX2 joke about Princess Jane 2. redshibe joke about the video's sound mixing. Ultimategringa2 joke about Princess Jane "tricks."

It seems that by going broader in scope, Rufus has sacrificed the intimate charms that made people "fans" of Princess Jane in the first place.

At any rate, his supposed full-length, AI-animated movie is coming along, though it seems few believe it will really threaten the animation industry.
