I can attest those things are incredibly durable. Some old mercant who specialized in selling replacement pieces for ancient things old people still use had a lost box of those and decided to put it them to sale. They were so old that contact information was via telegraph, (apparently made in the 70s) yet they worked just fine.

There's that little paperboard thing you put on plugs, once I couldn't find the plug so I peeled it layer from layer and burned them like incense. Now Raid sells them just like that. I'm so suing them.
