He might be referring to how Nintendo still shipped very limited numbers of the NES Classic because they haven't learned from the amiibo shortage from long back.
Yet they shipped a crap-ton of Pokémon Sun and Moons in anticipation for its success…
The better question is, why would someone buy one for that much?
Answer: because collectors are willing to pay out the ass for limited stock items, and there are people that are more than willing to take advantage of that.
