Just like many of those stars, Pink Diamond too is dead.

The thing that annoys me about the whole "these stars are probably dead" thing is that stars can exist for billions of years, so even a few centuries of travel time is insignificant compared to how long they live. I imagine the number of stars in the sky that are actually long dead is very small.
