The Simpsons also did a very similar thing in the episode where Homer is accused of sexual harassment. Homer goes on a news show that's a parody of a real one and they edit what Homer says so it sounds like Homer is saying something that aligns with his already negative reputation with the public (and the edits are really obvious too as you can see things like the clock in the background displaying different times when a jump cut happens).
