I was still just a lurker on 4chan, local chans were still trying to develop lungs, and what I wanted most was a ticket to SomethingAwful to witness their meme factory and watch the council determine the memes to come for the next winter (international cards were VERY hard to come by then), and overall any file you downloaded had a 1/4 chance of being your old buddy Goatse.

You spent half an hour of your life and dial-up to download a goatse.
